A Negro “In the Castle” (2018)
Inspired by the statue of “Apteka Pod Murzynem” (literally the “Pharmacy under the Negro”), I created an installation in several interventions. Becoming both curator and artist, I combined the displacement of works from the collections of the Castle Museum and my own creations made during a residence. By doing so, the figure of the Negro becomes central for questioning the power relationship in the personal history of the "von Pless" ducal family.
This project has been initiated by Ars Cameralis, an art organization in Katowice, Poland.
The exhibition "Microscripts interventions in space " is the result of a meeting of three artists: Alex Grein, Dominik Ritszel and myself.
We were invited during summer 2018 under the international Kulturatrium project, involving a cooperation of the Weimar Triangle regions to imagine and create art interventions in the historical interiors of the Castle Museum in Pszczyna.
